Labels

Well, it has been a while since my last post.

Maybe because I have been thinking a lot lately about random little things that have little significance, only there to distract me... I have also been busy studying...

in any case, I just wanted to note that I have noticed how silly it is for people to identify with silly little "categories'". I was just at the mall yesterday... in the dressing room. while I was waiting for a room, I started to notice how the shoppers would come in, and try their clothes, and you could see all the turns that they did in front of the mirror to make sure that it looked nice... I realized that I did the same thing too, I dance in front of the mirror, I sit, get up.. test the new pants of skirt or whatever... Then subconsciously I think of whether or not people are going to like the way it looks on me, and then if whether or not it fits my "look" my "category" ...

Categories... I thought they were only prevalent mostly in high school, but I was wrong... Some people do not grow out of that stage...

"I am a prep", "I am a geek", " I am smart" , " I am pretty", " I am rich", " I am a doctor", " I am dumb"... etc etc etc. You get the point. These are all little labels.. that we somehow put on each other as well as ourselves... Labels..

see, the problem with labels is that once you "label" someone, you pretty much have come to a conclusion, a belief, and that does not let you SEE that person for whom they are... the labels obscure, and occlude your vision of that person.

You don't see that person anymore.. Why is it that "popular" kids don't talk to "non- popular" kids? because they don't really SEE the kid, they just see "non popular" across their forehead, and don't even bother to get to know that person.

Classifying, and labeling,is not good for people... "Mexican" , "Hispanic" "Asian" whatever.... brings good and bad connotations... discrimination is then thrown into this and BAM! you have a horrible mixture of things leading to ignorance, and hate.

We should be focusing on understanding, and love... we should not be classyfing ourselves...

Don't just buy clothes because "preps" wear them, and if you are a "prep" then you should buy it.. don't just hang out with "emo" friends, because you "are emo"... don't look down on others because they don't form part of your pathetic little robotic 'group" ...

On the contrary... SEE people... truly SEE them... and you will find that everyone has something important, something that makes a difference, something that can help you.

SEEING people, brings understanding, and love. SEEING others, brings to your heart TRUE love. Love to others, not because of what they do to you, or how many times they accolade you, or how many presents they gave you. Love others for who they are. Not expecting anything.

True love does not exclude. The tree does not decide whether or not to give shade to a prep guy over a "geek". The tree gives its shade, to EVERYONE whether or not you are there...

That is love. No exclusions.. no reason. Just love.

So get rid of all those silly little labels today!
